In a language other than English, can your student…

Write? Listen? Speak? Read?

Your Student could:

  • Qualify for the Washington State Seal of Biliteracy on their diploma
  • Earn High School Credit for a language other than English

Take the World Language Proficiency Test offered in the fall and spring.

World Language Proficiency Testing

CKSD offers students in grades 7-12 World Language Proficiency testing opportunities each year. Testing is provided at each secondary school. Students can earn up to 4 high school credits per language depending their proficiency level.. Students generally will be tested in listening/ attending, speaking/signing, reading, and writing. Washington State Seal of Biliteracy

Students can earn the Seal of Biliteracy by earning 4 competency-based credits in one or more world languages, including American Sign Language and Tribal languages, and earning 4 ELA credits that qualify for the graduation pathway. The Seal of Biliteracy notation will be placed on the student’s transcript, diploma, and the student will have the opportunity to wear a Medal of the Seal of Biliteracy at graduation.
