Asian American & Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Month 2026

May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the rich histories, diverse cultures, and meaningful contributions of AANHPI communities across the nation and here in Central Kitsap.
This year’s theme, chosen by the Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC), is “Power in Unity: Strengthening Communities Together.” The theme highlights the importance of connection, collaboration, and shared purpose, and recognizes the many ways AANHPI individuals and communities contribute to building strong, vibrant, and resilient communities.
Throughout the month, CK Schools will engage students in lessons and activities that reflect the diversity, experiences, and achievements of AANHPI individuals, past and present, helping to deepen understanding and appreciation across our schools.
We highlight and celebrate national history and heritage months as a district and in schools throughout the year as part of our commitment to ensuring safe and welcoming learning environments. This includes Black History Month (February); Women’s History Month (March); Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Month (May); Pride Month (June); Hispanic/Latin(o/a/x) Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15); Disability History Month (October); and Native American Heritage Month (November).
