About the Linder Foundation
PURPOSE: The Paul Linder Educational Foundation is dedicated to promoting excellence in education within Central Kitsap School District. It awards Linder Academic Grants to students and staff to promote higher levels of academic achievement. Grants are designed to fund training for students and staff or to purchase unique equipment and materials to expand learning in the classroom. The grant process requires recipients to share their new knowledge with others and to share their results with the Linder Foundation Board. The Foundation has awarded more than $200,000 in grants to staff and students.
During the 2019-20 school year, the Foundation donated $1,000 to each high school to assist with costs involved in virtual graduations. They also extended the date by which 2019-20 grants could be expended (because students and staff were not in school buildings after March due to COVID-19).
The success of the Foundation is due to the all-volunteer efforts of its Board of Directors, resulting in no administrative costs for the organization. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
The Paul Linder Educational Foundation and its endowment are funded through individual donations, along with dollars raised through corporate gifts and other fundraising efforts.
GRANT OPPORTUNITIES: Linder Foundation Grants provide opportunities that support educational excellence in the Central Kitsap School District. It awards grants to

HISTORY: The Paul Linder Educational Foundation benefiting Central Kitsap School District was established in January 1986 and was incorporated in January 1987. The Founders wished to recognize Paul Linder's lifetime commitment to education excellence, and they had enthusiastic support from the Central Kitsap School District Board of Directors and the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce.
PAUL LINDER: Paul Linder began teaching in Central Kitsap Schools in 1947. He coached baseball and basketball, and served as a principal and curriculum director, as well. He became superintendent in 1974 and retired from the District in 1978. Paul Linder was a founder and president of the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Rotary club of Silverdale, as well as many other civic organizations. He received the Washington Award in 1989 from the Washington Business and Public Relations Society of America. His death on January 15, 1990, left a void in our community that spurred the ongoing Linder Foundation efforts to support educational excellence in Central Kitsap School District in honor of his memory.
