It’s been a busy year, and it’s about to get busier! Next month, work will be going on at half our schools! Work on secure entrances will begin to wrap up at four schools, and we’ll begin four more. Central Kitsap Middle School staff are packing boxes as they prepare to start classes in their new school in April.

Plus, plans are in progress to start security improvements at two more schools this spring, more improvements at Olympic and more!

Olympic High School

Complete! We cut the ribbon on the addition and modernization project! 

What’s next: Stay tuned for news about future improvements to Olympic!

Central Kitsap Middle

Status: Classrooms are getting final touches. Kitchen equipment was installed and tested.

What’s next: Construction crews will complete major work by Feb. 12. That paves the way for furniture to move in to ready the school for classes on April 8.

Central Kitsap High

Status: The third floor has been painted. Sheet rock work and painting have begun on the second and first floors. Pipes, ducts and electrical conduit are being installed in the performing arts center and the gym.

What’s next: Work will continue inside the school to ready it for its fall opening.

Klahowya Secondary

Status: Grading and other work to ready the site for grandstands has begun. 

What’s next: Grandstands will be installed once site work is complete. 

Safety & Security Improvements

Status: Work is progressing quickly! Crews have put up new walls and framed in areas for new doors and windows in several schools. 

What’s next: Next week, we start work on the third phase of improvements, which includes Fairview, Green Mountain, Clear Creek and Hawk! We’ll request bids for work at Cottonwood and Cougar Valley this spring.
