Earlier this month we celebrated completion of the biggest and final large construction project funded by the 2016 bond. But we’re not done yet! We’ll continue to keep our promises by completing security improvements later this fall and continuing critical repairs across the district. 

CK High

Status: We hosted a grand opening for our community on October 2. The satellite gym is finished. We are sharing student feedback cards with the design and construction teams.

What’s Next: Crews will finish painting and other interior work on the satellite gym (the former CK Middle gym) and install bleachers at the new softball field.

Klahowya Secondary

Status: Athletics sponsor Integrity Roofing & Construction has begun adding attachment metal for the roofing on the grandstands. They are awaiting arrival of the roofing material.

What’s Next: Integrity Roofing hopes to complete the roof before the final home football game on November 8.

CK Admin/Silverdale Library

Status: The demolition contractor took over the old CKHS site; the abatement process will begin on October 31. Creation of construction documents for Building 900 has begun.

What’s Next: We will seek construction bids in early 2020, with construction expected to begin that spring

Seabeck

Status: The demolition contractor has begun the abatement process. 

What’s Next: Demolition of the old portions of the school will occur following abatement. The newest portion, the gymnasium, will be preserved and available for community use. 

Safety & Security

Status: Cougar Valley officially opened its new secure entrance and its relocated main office this week. That means we only have one more secure entrance to finish!

What’s Next: Construction of an addition and secure entrance at Cottonwood is underway and expected to open after winter break.

Olympic High

Status: Detailed design work for the second phase of modernization (classroom + athletic wings, in orange) has begun. We received the design development submittal on Oct. 17.

What’s Next: After the design development is approved, we’ll start creating the construction documents.

Ridgetop Middle

Status: Construction documents are near completion for a Ridgetop Middle School Theater addition. We have also applied for the necessary permits.

What’s Next: The current timeline calls for construction bids late this year.
