Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in helping our schools and students succeed! Our students benefit when you share your talents and time. We are so grateful for your desire to help our students succeed!

If you’re 62 or older, your volunteer service may also qualify you for a tax break.

Volunteer Application Process

The volunteer application is available in both English and Spanish. If you need further language assistance with the volunteer application, please email [email protected].

This form is best completed on a computer or laptop device. Some mobile devices  (including smartphones) do not read the form properly.

In order to complete this application, you will need to provide a Washington state (or other U.S. state) driver's license or other official photo identification. Examples of an "official photo identification" (ID) include: state-issued ID cards; state/private college/university ID cards; or federal-issued ID cards such as resident alien ID card, passport, tribal enrollment or other identification card. Other state, federal or local government-issued identification cards are acceptable, as long as they meet the following criteria: (1) Display the holder's photo; (2) Display an issue date and an expiration date; (3) Display the holder's full name.

After we receive the results of your background check, the school volunteer coordinator will match your expertise, interests, and skills with the available volunteer opportunities.

Please read the volunteer handbook (pdf) to learn about volunteer rules and guidelines. We look forward to welcoming you!

Volunteer coaches are required to:

  3. Hold a valid First Aid/CPR card.

  4. Meet with the building athletic director for final approval. The athletic director will review the volunteer coach expectations and responsibilities.

  5. Read the volunteer handbook (pdf) to learn about volunteer rules and guidelines.

  6. You have 2 weeks from the time you submit your volunteer application to complete all required trainings or your application will be denied.

Safety

We ask volunteers to follow certain guidelines and expectations to create safe and successful experiences for students. You can read an overview of those in our volunteer handbook (pdf)

For example, all volunteers must submit to a criminal background check.  We will not accept volunteers who have been convicted of crimes against children or other violent crimes. We ask volunteers to re-apply every two years to keep this information updated.

We also ask volunteers — even regular volunteers — to sign in and wear identification each time they visit our schools. That way, new staff and parents can welcome you and identify visitors to our schools.
