Capital Projects Update: December 2018

Our projects are wrapping up in quick succession! 

Classes have started in Silverdale’s new wing. The final areas of Olympic’s addition and modernization project are open, and staff start to move in this week. Entrance improvements are underway at four more schools. CK Middle looks more finished every day as we prepare for a spring break opening. 

By next fall, we’ll complete our work to create safer school entrances and modernized classrooms and labs in secondary schools. It’s going to be an exciting 2019!

CK High & Middle

CK Middle's commons has a stage built out and drywall up
Status: Work on the exterior of the schools is nearly done. Drywall installation and painting are going on throughout the building. Gym floors in CK Middle are done, and flooring is being laid in CK High. 

What’s next: Work will continue on the baseball field. CK Middle classrooms will look more finished as we prepare to install furniture and technology hardware. We're on track to start classes on April 8.

Olympic High

The performing arts center seats are installed and stage is finished


Status: The final phase of the school addition and modernization project is nearly complete. This week, staff began moving in to the library, main office, student store and several classrooms.

What’s next: We celebrate! The Grand Opening Celebration is at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 24. 

Silverdale Elementary

Students were in new classrooms before winter break

Complete! Classes have started in the new wing at Silverdale. This bright and beautiful addition, called “Sky Pod,” includes five classrooms, a small common space and bathrooms.




Safety & Security
Construction workers at Woodlands

Status: Demolition work is complete at the entrances to Brownsville, Esquire Hills, PineCrest and Woodlands. Crews are beginning to build new walls.

What’s next: We’ll request bids for our next phase of work at four more schools in January.

Klahowya Secondary

Status: We will award a contract this month to prepare the field for grandstands and a new storage building! 

What’s next: If the weather cooperates, work will begin early in the new year.
