COVID-19 Health & Safety

Updated October 14, 2021

We want students and staff safe and in school. We take a layered approach to reduce the spread of COVID-19 based on recommendations and requirements from state and local health officials. To use a popular analogy, each layer of protection is like a slice of Swiss cheese. No single layer is 100% effective; each layer has holes. But when we combine multiple layers, we can block more and more holes and limit the spread of COVID-19.

Layers of protection our schools use include:

  • Indoor mask requirement

  • Frequent handwashing

  • Physical distancing whenever possible

  • Requirement for staff and students to stay home when sick

  • Testing

  • Vaccine requirements for staff or regular testing for staff members with vaccine exceptions

  • Contact tracing

  • Cleaning and disinfection

  • Air quality
