Purpose:
To support and make recommendations to the Central Kitsap School District Board of Directors, Superintendent, and other district staff in the development, review, and revision of both short and long-term financial management plans that support the mission and priorities of the district.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Budget Council will:
- Function in an advisory capacity, understanding that the responsibility for making district budgetary decisions rests with the Superintendent and the Board of Directors.
- Work collaboratively to ensure appropriate and representative engagement in the district's budgetary decision-making process.
- Analyze demographic and financial trends and projections.
- Consider legal, financial, and educational requirements established by the state and federal government and the needs and priorities of students, staff, parents, and community.
- Formulate budget recommendations that promote student learning and are aligned with the educational goals and priorities established by the Strategic Plan and the Central Kitsap School District Board of Directors.
- Develop recommendations that utilize the Smarter School Spending protocol.
- Assist with communication of advisory council work and recommendations to respective constituents and to the Board of Directors.
