BYOD

Starting in fall 2018, we will allow only students in grades 9 to 12 to bring their own laptops and tablets for school use. It's a program known as Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). We will continue to support and check out Chromebooks to any student who wants to use a district device during the school year. Using a personal device is optional. We will not penalize any students who don't participate in BYOD.

Any device students use for school must meet our minimum requirements (see below). Families are responsible for ensuring that their student’s personal device meets the state testing requirements. Use of a personal devices on a Central Kitsap School District wireless network is entirely at the risk of the user, and the district is not responsible for any loss of any information that may arise from the use of the wireless connection, or for any loss, injury, or damages resulting from the use of the wireless connection.

Note: State-supported testing browsers are usually lag 1 to 3 versions behind the current release. Review the link above frequently to make sure your browser is not updated beyond the currently supported version.

More to Consider

Battery life: Your battery needs to last a whole day. Classrooms are not equipped to charge personal devices.

Tech Support: You must be your own tech support. CKSD tech support is not available for personal devices.

Printing: Personal devices do not connect to district printers.

Responsibility: CKSD is not responsible for damage to or theft of any personal devices.
