Our drivers connect with students every day as mentors, counselors, observers and, at times, confidants. Because of that, we search for safe and reliable drivers who also care about children.

One word describes how we accomplish our mission: SAFETY

We have regular drivers, as well as a team of substitute drivers. Many of them are retirees, college students, parents or others looking for work with flexible hours.

Be a Driver

We need full time and on-call substitute drivers and substitute bus assistants. We will train you for free so you can earn a commercial driver’s license. Our buses are well-maintained and have automatic transmissions.

Driver Requirements

Our drivers must meet requirements set by the Department of Education, Department of Transportation and the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).

Requirements include:

  • A class “B” Commercial Drivers License, with passenger and school bus endorsement (S and P1)
  • An excellent driving record for at least the past 10 years
  • A drug and alcohol test
  • A physical test at least once every two years,
  • At least 40 hours of classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training, including, but not limited to, defensive driving, loading and unloading of students, driving skills course, emergency procedures and basic first aid
  • At least eight hours of in-service training every 12 months.
