I love my job, I really do.

I love going to CK. I always talk about, "What other job can you have where you just go and pretty much shoot the breeze with teenagers?"

I'm sure a lot of people would say that's terrifying, but I love it. That's just who I am. I think that's what I was built to do.

My high school coach was Bob Colleran of Clover Park High School. I've always just respected him. You know, just the things that he's taught me and the man that I am today I mean, you know, of course my father was a big piece of that. But Bob Colleran, I learned a lot of life lessons from him.

Everything we did was done with a lens of, "Okay, you guys are going to learn to love each other and you guys are going to learn to play for each other. And you're going to be more successful, not only this football field but in life as well."

I think one of the ways that I can translate the things that I learned from Coach Colleran to students and players that I work with today is they have to be able to trust me. Because I know that I trusted Coach Colleran. And I still would to this day, if he walked through that door and told me this was going to happen, I would believe him.

I have to be consistent in what I say and what I do, no matter where I'm at. 

If I'm talking to kids about how you act in school, how you should act at home, if they see me out in town, I need to be setting that example. And there are times where I don't. I'm not perfect. But I make sure that they know that that wasn't me and I apologize and I let them know I am human. And then I have to move forward from that, just the way I expect them to.

I'm in charge of all the lower-level discipline that happens up there. I love it because it gives me an opportunity to walk around, to meet kids, to develop relationships.

You kind of talk to them and find out what's going on. It's not just, "Go to detention," or, "You're suspended." It's really an opportunity to get to know these kids, to talk to them, find out what's going on in their lives, and just share relationships with them.

And I believe in students having a second chance. And I think that's another piece of just developing the relationship with those students, it's to let them know again that, "This isn't about you as a person. This is about what you've done. And we're going to work through it and we're going to move forward."
