Are you interested in our work on school start and end times? Last month, we shared the results of our first survey. These results showed support for changing school times, but we found a contrast in what we heard from families and what we heard from students.

Over the past few weeks, we've been meeting with students to learn more about their concerns and preferences. Now we are ready for the next step.

The School Start & End Times Team would like your opinion on the two options that best match the research. Please take a moment to complete this new survey.

The survey will be open through Monday, December 2. We expect to share the results during the December 11 school board meeting.

Why a change?

The district is considering changing start times because the latest research on teen brains shows that our students should be starting school at a later time. The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests that time should be after 8:30 a.m.

A team of parents, community members, staff and administrators have been meeting since May 2019 to consider changes to the start times for all our schools.
