The search is over!

During tonight’s public special session, our school board selected Dr. Erin Prince as our next superintendent.

Board members were unanimous in their choice, as well as in their praise of the search process itself.

“This has been a fabulous process,” said Board President Jeanie Schulze. “The outcome was exactly what I’d hoped for from the beginning. I just know Dr. Prince is going to do great things for our district.”

Dr. Prince has dedicated her career to public education. She served as superintendent of the Corvallis School District in Oregon for five years. Prior to that, she was assistant superintendent and human resources director for the Sherwood School District. Dr. Prince started her career as a classroom teacher for 13 years. She has also served as an elementary school principal, grant writer, adjunct professor and curriculum, instruction and assessment specialist. Most recently, Dr. Prince served as a consultant with Prince Catalyst Consulting, after serving for two years as vice president of education policy for the Chalkboard Project.

"It is a tremendous honor to have the opportunity to serve the Central Kitsap School District and community as the next superintendent," said Dr. Prince. "I am impressed with the high quality of education in schools and the dedicated partnership with the CK community. I am looking forward to working closely with Superintendent McVicker over the next few months to ensure a smooth and seamless transition, so the excellent support for student success can continue to thrive. Building trusting and positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members will be my most immediate priority as I start my new journey. Thank you for your support!"

Although her contract is effective July 1, Dr. Prince has accepted the board’s request that she begin spending time in our district this spring. Parents and community members will have the opportunity to meet Dr. Prince this Wednesday, March 27, 5:00-6:00 p.m. at Barker Creek Community School as we formally welcome Dr. Prince to Central Kitsap Schools. Other “meet and greet” events will be scheduled over the coming months.

In her spare time, Dr. Prince enjoys tennis, golf, reading, watching movies and volunteering. She and her husband, Rick, have three daughters.

We look forward to welcoming Dr. Prince to Central Kitsap Schools!
