Awards for Fairview Middle, Silver Ridge Elementary, and Woodlands Elementary.

Central Kitsap Schools have a lot to be proud of today!

Hard work and progress has earned statewide recognition for three Central Kitsap Schools. Silver Ridge Elementary, Woodlands Elementary and Fairview Middle School were named Schools of Distinction by the Center for Educational Effectiveness.

“It’s a big deal,” said Superintendent David McVicker. “We’re just thrilled with our schools’ progress and what they’ve accomplished.”

The statewide award recognizes five years of sustained growth in both English language arts and mathematics. The Center for Educational Effectiveness, in partnership with state school directors, principals and superintendent organizations, presents the award annually to Washington schools that show the most improvement.

Fairview Middle

This is the first year Fairview Middle School has received a School of Distinction Award. "It is with great pleasure, but little surprise that I learned of Fairview Middle School’s status as recipient of the School of Distinction award," said Principal Adrienne Nestor. "I couldn’t be more proud of the great work done every day."

Silver Ridge Elementary

For a second year in a row, Silver Ridge Elementary has been named a School of Distinction. Principal Lisa Hawkins said, “Just last year we changed our vision to, ‘Coming together to inspire and encourage excellence,’ and that is what truly happens every day at Silver Ridge. I feel very fortunate to be part of such a supportive community.”

Woodlands Elementary

Also for a second year in a row, Woodlands Elementary has won a School of Distinction award. Principal Amy Archuleta credits the hard work and care of the Woodlands staff. “Our students have also been working exceptionally hard and it is a joy to watch them learn,” said Archuleta.
