Central Kitsap High and Middle Replacement

Thanks to the Central Kitsap community, we will replace Central Kitsap Middle and Central Kitsap High. CKHS was built in 1942. CKMS was built in 1952. The replacement will add permanent classroom space to get students out of portables. State-of-the-art lab and career and technical areas will allow students to use materials and build skills for tomorrow’s careers. Clear sightlines and secure entryways will improve safety and security. The project will ease traffic jams around the campus.

The two schools will be side-by-side in the center of the existing campus. Each school will operate independently with separate entries, commons and classrooms. They will share some resources, such as a kitchen and career and technical labs.

Why It's Needed

Parents and community members have emphasized the need to get rid of portable classrooms. The proposed plan will add permanent classrooms. Olympic High School was built in 1979. Since then, the needs of employers have changed a lot. Technical education classrooms are dated and no longer support what students need to learn.
